Evacuation of Residents Initiated Following Fire Incident at Ajman One Residential Complex Last Month

Hundreds of tenants who were affected by a recent fire incident in an Ajman high-rise building have successfully returned to their homes. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 27, when flames engulfed one side of a 36-storey tower within the Ajman One complex. Fortunately, emergency services swiftly responded, and no injuries were reported. While 64 apartments and ten cars suffered damage, the fire was quickly brought under control by Ajman’s diligent civil defence teams.

In a display of solidarity and support, more than 800 residents were promptly relocated to hotels with the assistance of Emirates Red Crescent. However, recent updates from Ajman Police indicate that 225 tenants have now been allowed to return to their properties, which remained unaffected by the fire. The authorities continue to provide essential aid services to those whose homes were gutted in the blaze, ensuring ongoing support during this challenging period.

Lt Col Ghaith Al Kaabi, from Ajman Police, expressed gratitude in a video message shared on the force’s Twitter account, highlighting that no injuries were sustained during the incident. He commended the collaborative efforts between Ajman Police and Red Crescent in securing hotel stays for 810 individuals. Those tenants whose flats remained unharmed by the blaze have been able to return home after the recovery stage was completed. Mobile police stations are actively operating around the clock to offer assistance to the affected tenants and neighboring residents, providing essential aid services.

While the cause of the fire has yet to be disclosed, it is encouraging to note the inspiring accounts of residents’ bravery and unity amidst the chaos. Mohammed Sahlan, a resident residing on the sixth floor, demonstrated remarkable courage by carrying his injured mother-in-law to safety. Despite initial confusion, he acted swiftly and navigated through the stairs, ensuring the well-being of his loved ones. The fire was brought under control around 3 a.m., and Sahlan expressed gratitude that his apartment remained unaffected. The tower’s management promptly offered hotel accommodation, allowing residents to register their names on the list for support.

As cleanup operations continue, it is heartening to see the positive outcomes emerging from this challenging situation. The resilience and support exhibited by the community, along with the prompt response of emergency services, exemplify the strength and unity within Ajman. Through mutual aid and ongoing assistance, the affected residents are receiving the support they need to rebuild their lives.
